Jobs

The job market here is a little different to Europe and there are several things you should be aware of.  The first one is that salaries are often quoted as an hourly rate which does not mean they are temporary positions as it would at home.  Secondly, holiday entitlements tend to be shorter.  Thirdly, salaries are lower.  This last point must be put in context; salaries are lower but so too are house prices and vehicle prices.  We do not want to put you off, but it is better to be aware before you look at career websites and dismiss positions based on the low salary.

We can put you in contact with agencies for specific careers and if you wish to send us your CV, we can “Canadianise” it. Please note that it is a good idea to have your education and qualifications assessed in terms of Canadian standards.  There are various agencies that do this for a fee and it will give you an idea of the level of position you will be looking for, any further qualifications you could do at home before you come out to upgrade skills and it will be a good thing to send to potential employers.  Links for assessing international qualifications: World Education Services - Canada (WES-Canada), Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials
